How We Review Products

A full account of how products are sourced, scored, and matched to your needs

How Products Enter the Database

Products are added based on market relevance — search volume, user demand, and category coverage — not on whether a vendor operates an affiliate program. We include products that earn us nothing alongside products that do, because completeness builds better comparisons.

Each product profile is built from publicly available information: the vendor's own documentation, pricing pages, feature lists, and independent user reviews. We use an AI-assisted import tool (Claude Sonnet) to structure raw product pages into structured data, which is then reviewed before publishing.

The Five Scoring Dimensions

Every product in our database is evaluated across five dimensions. These scores appear on product pages and feed into comparison tables.

Value

Price vs. output

Pricing relative to the depth of features offered and what comparable products charge. Considers free tiers, annual discounts, and per-seat vs. flat pricing.

Features

Depth & quality

The breadth and maturity of the core feature set. Includes integrations, API access, customisation options, and how well the product does its primary job.

Ease of Use

Onboarding & clarity

Time to first value, UI clarity, quality of onboarding, and learning curve for a typical user in the target segment.

Support

Access & responsiveness

Documentation quality, availability of live support channels, and typical response times based on public data and user-reported experiences.

Reputation

Track record

Aggregated signals from independent review platforms, uptime history, data breach disclosures, and long-term product trajectory.

Scores are set editorially and updated when a product makes a material change. Vendors cannot pay to improve a score.

How the Recommendation Wizard Works

The wizard asks five questions: your primary use case, budget range, team size, technical comfort level, and the feature you value most. Your answers are matched against every product in the relevant vertical using a deterministic scoring algorithm.

Each product starts at 50 points. The algorithm then applies weighted adjustments:

  • Use-case fit — ±35 points based on affinity keywords and anti-keywords per category
  • Budget alignment — ±20 points based on whether the product fits your stated range
  • Team size — ±10 points for solo vs. team vs. enterprise targeting
  • Technical level — ±10 points based on product complexity vs. your stated comfort
  • Priority feature — ±10 points if the product is strong in your stated priority

Scores are clamped between 3 and 97, deduplicated, and ranked. The top results are shown after you provide your email. The algorithm runs entirely on our servers — results are instant and cost nothing per session.

Keeping Content Current

Software pricing and features change frequently. We make reasonable efforts to update product pages when material changes occur, but we cannot guarantee real-time accuracy. Always verify pricing and features directly on the vendor's website before purchasing.
